A Brief History of Lake Mathews Elementary School:
Lake Mathews Elementary School is one of the thirty elementary schools in Riverside Unified School District. The school opened for the 2003-2004 school year. Our school is named after a large reservoir of water called Lake Mathews that is located in Cajalco Canyon in the Foothills of the Temescal Mountains. Lake Mathews provides much of the water used by the cities and water districts of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. At Lake Mathews Elementary School, we aspire to have clarity in our mission and vision resulting in a level of excellence. We are a National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School. We always strive to do our best!
